Tell Them About Us

Tell Them About Us chronicles the lives of six teenage girls as they journey through adolescence in Eberswalde, a provincial town in eastern Germany, 30 km from Berlin. As newcomers, they navigate the usual challenges of teenage life—friendships, school, and self-discovery—alongside the complexities of adapting to a new culture and environment. Faced with an unfamiliar and often inhospitable world, they grapple with identity issues as immigrants and refugees, struggling with uprootedness, cultural adjustment and the pressures of assimilation. Yet they find comfort and strength in their shared experiences, and strive to create a place for themselves in their new home. The director's workshops (playing, painting) provide them with a creative outlet to explore their inspirations and fears, allowing them to stage dream sequences that represent their visions of the future, and help them process their experiences in a playful and creative way.
