Oum Shatt

German band Oum Shatt, inspired by the legendary Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum, mixes Turkish psychedelic sounds from the 70s with surf, new wave and film soundtracks, creating a mystical sound. Six years ago, the band released its critically acclaimed debut album, which led to several tours at home and abroad.

Now the Berlin-based band (featuring members of other bands such as Fenster, Die Turen, Golden Showers and Peaches) returns with a second album that even surpasses their debut. Building on the minimalist rock style of their debut album, Oum Shatt weaves a mystical, sometimes psychedelic soundscape with winding guitars, a wild percussive aesthetic and Jonas Poppe's evocative, mantra-like baritone. Although the album draws from obscure influences, the album remains undeniably unique.
