The longest building in the Netherlands
Discover the urban hotspots of Rotterdam
It's happening in Rotterdam Noord. In the arches under this former railway line you will find Food & Drinks, Fashion and Design. Everything deliciously Rotterdam style.
History
The Hofbogen, officially the Hofpleinviaduct, is part of the former train connection (Hofpleinlijn) between Rotterdam Hofplein, The Hague and Scheveningen. For a century, trains ran over the Hofbogen between Rotterdam and Scheveningen. Since 2010, this has been history and the longest monumental building in the Netherlands winds through Rotterdam Noord. The arches under the old railway viaduct now house approximately 2 kilometers of design, fashion and food & drinks. Dozens of creative entrepreneurs have established themselves here. No brand stores and large chains, but small specialty stores with special products, run by real Rotterdammers. When the weather is good, the catering establishments open their sun-drenched terraces. Events on the roof of Hofplein Station and the Italian restaurant Happy Italy in Bergweg Station complete the picture.
