National Museum of Photography
The National Museum of Photography collects and preserves the photografic heritage of the Netherlands. The exhibitions show these photographs to a wide audience.
National Museum of Photography
The National Museum of Photography has managed a large part of the photographic heritage in the Netherlands since the late 1980s. The museum also organizes international exhibitions on photography, that are accessible for a broad audience. Sometimes a social or artistic theme is central, other times an internationally iconic photographer.
The museum is moving!
At the moment you can find The National Museum of Photography in Las Palmas, a striking industrial building that once was the workshop building of the Holland Amerca Line. Late 2025 the museum will move to their new home: pakhuis Santos. A monumental warehouse with eight floors along the Rijnhaven where visitors can see the exhibitions in the future. Also the building has space for the extensive museum collection of about 6.5 million photographic objects.
Gallery of Honour of Dutch Photography
The Gallery of Honour of Dutch Photography is a long lasting exhibition. It shows 99 images that tell the story of the development of photography in the Netherlands from 1842 to the present. The exhibition is currently closed and opens in a new form after the museum has moved to their new location.
Accessibility
The National Museum of Photography in Las Palmas is easily accessible by tram, metro (Wilhelminaplein stop) and water taxi. In the immediate vicinity there is paid parking for more than 500 cars.
