A Tale of a Tub
Gallery for contemporary art in the former bathhouse in the Justus van Effen Complex in Spangen, Rotterdam.
A Tale of A Tub Space for contemporary art and culture
A Tale of A Tub is a non-profit institution for contemporary art and culture. The programme is centred around questions about how art can contribute to our understanding of contemporary social, political and ecological issues. Our exhibition programme is shaped by intersectional ecological thinking, intertwining issues related to nature, climate, ecology and the shared environment, gender, feminism and decolonisation, as well as the increasing influence of digital infrastructures and advanced capitalist and neoliberal systems and governments.
We want to make this increasing complexity and connection between nature and culture tangible and accessible to our audience, thus endorsing the essential importance of educational and discursive actions and events as an integral dimension of our programming. From the former bathhouse in the heart of the monumental Justus van Effen complex, A Tale of A Tub offers its space, infrastructure and resources to artists, curators and practitioners from different fields of research to develop new commissioned artistic productions, reflecting on complex social issues and debates that reinforce and enrich our everyday living and working practices, often based on long-term research and interdisciplinary dialogue.
