Ticket sales for Fenix, the new art museum on migration, have begun

Fenix will be open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm from 16 mei and until 9pm on Fridays. It is already possible to buy a ticket online for the new art museum on migration via this link.

The online ticket gives access to all exhibitions and the Tornado: the double twisted stainless steel staircase that circles up from the museum building. Tickets are valid only on the chosen day and time.

Fenix is the world's first art museum about migration. It is housed in a restored monumental shed from 1923 that stands on the very quays of departure and arrival in the city of Rotterdam. Quays where new lives began for millions of people. On their way to the United States or Canada or arrived from China, Cape Verde and Greece. At this venue, Fenix gives space to more than a hundred artists from all continents. They show that migration is timeless and universal.

The Family of Migrants

Besides the international art collection, a suitcase maze of two thousand privately donated suitcases and the documentary photo exhibition The Family of Migrants will be on display. On the ground floor will be Plein: a 2,000-square-metre covered city square where Rotterdammers create programme together with Fenix.

The Tornado

Fenix's biggest work of art and eye-catcher is the Tornado. A double twisted staircase at the heart of the building. The staircase opens onto a panoramic roof and was designed by Chinese firm MAD Architects. With Fenix, MAD is the first Chinese architecture firm to open a museum building in Europe.
