Thrasher gives his tips for Rotterdam

Rotterdam native Gareth van Wijk grew up on hardcore punk rock. Later, he focused on harder dance styles such as drum & bass, industrial, UK hardcore and breakcore. Through his label PRSPCT, he releases music, including his own, and gives parties all over the world where he also spins as a DJ himself. On 22 February, he will spin during New Millennium & PRSPCT at WORM and on 29 March, there will be a PRSPCT at Perron. Where else will he be in town?

Blijdorp

''I have lived in Blijdorp for about 20 years and I like it very much. My life is generally quite busy and chaotic. Blijdorp is not like that! If I have to fly for a show, it's only 25 minutes by train to Schiphol and with 10 minutes' cycling I'm in the middle of town. Ideal anyway!''

WORM

''Normally, it is difficult for me to choose a favourite stage in Rotterdam. In fact, Baroeg and WORM have shared first place for me on this front for years. Baroeg is currently getting completely new premises and is temporarily closed as a venue. Worm, on the other hand, is not. So I can be found there by far the most for concerts and the night programme. Especially also because of the bold programming goes in all directions, the fat interior of the building and the friendly staff. It is not for nothing that I organise my little PRSPCT label night in Worm a few times a year. Since a few years, I've even been in Worm's premises with my office and studio. Maybe I'm here too often! ;-)''

Baroeg Open Air

''The coolest festival in Rotterdam. Over and out! Have played there a few times myself but go there just as much purely as a visitor. It never ceases to amaze me how they manage to programme so many cool acts in so many different genres every year. Metal, punk, hardcore and drum & bass. What also makes it extra special is that it really is a festival for the whole family. Feel free to bring your kids. Give them the right musical education! ;-)''

Warung Mini

''When I used to work as a programmer for Nighttown on West Kruiskade, I used to come to Kiem Foei almost daily. I love Surinamese food immensely, so since my office/studio is around the corner from Witte de Withstraat, I come to Warung Mini almost daily. Surinamese food FTW!''

Bar3

''PRSPCT in itself is more than a full-time job. In addition, I usually spend the evening hours in the studio producing music until late. Add to that the gigs on weekends and there is little free time left. Still, I really do like having a drink with friends in due time. Bar3 sells ciders, the people behind the bar are relaxed and the music played there is a lot less miserable than most places in town. All in all, the best choice.''
