The faves of The Policy

The Policy is the collaboration between Pierre Hagelaars and Thijmen Hoebink. The Rotterdam-based producers worked with artists such as Tesse Rose Jackson and Tom Smith (Editors) and remixed artists such as AFFKT, Tén Fe, J. Bernardt and Otzeki. In 2023, they launched their label AfterGlow, creating a platform for their quirky electronic music. They have since played in the UK and China, among others, and occasionally organise parties in Rotterdam. Their own production Changes was once nominated for 3voor12 Song of the Year and their latest release is the aptly titled Roffa. The EP is an ode to the city where The Policy originated and consists of four tracks; De Unie, West-Blaak, Maashaven and Schieblock. Where else does The Policy draw inspiration from in Rotterdam?

Tom Coffee & Friends

''For me, this is a second living room and it is a social hotspot in North. It's a place where you get to know people through the owner's atmosphere and hospitality. No-nonsense coffee and an incredibly nice collection of trainers and clothes. A unique place to experience in Rotterdam Noord.''

Rottemeren/De Rotte

''The Rotte is the place for me when I want to escape the city. Within minutes you are surrounded by open countryside, water and woodland. I like to cycle down the Rotte and enjoy the surroundings. It is also the ideal place to take a dip in the water by the oh-so-friendly miller.''

Keilecafe

''With the arrival of spring, the opening of the Keilecafe is also just around the corner. For me, this is the ideal place to start on a Friday or Saturday. Keilecafe has a DIY look that reminds me of Club der Visionaere in Berlin. Located next to the Policy's HQ, this is an ideal place to end a studio session with a drink and good music.''

ChaxArtxRtm

''Thijmen, my associate with whom I work for the Policy, likes to visit ChaxArtxRtm at 14B Van Vollenhovenstraat. This art gallery aims to promote interaction between the West and the East and acts as an intercultural platform. The gallery presents constantly changing collections that are always worth seeing. Some of Thymen's favourite works are exhibited there.''

Motel Mozaïque

''The festival that for me is all about discovery and experience. Every year I try to go there and be surprised by everything I don't know yet. MOMO is a unique festival where I get a lot of inspiration from the different art forms coming together with music.''
