TENT opens doors of new home at Coolhaven

TENT' s new location at Coolhaven 32 will be festively inaugurated on 29 and 30 March with an exhibition curated by Baltimore curator Joy Davis. Six artists have explored the African diaspora in two historic industrial port cities: Baltimore and Rotterdam. There are paintings, drawings and murals by Schaun Champion, Charles Mason III and kolpeace from Baltimore. Naomi King, Djon Seedorf and Tarona represent Rotterdam.

The project highlights the layered and diverse stories told by local artists. Joy Davis paired artists with complementary ways of working and formed three duos. There will be an ongoing programme on both days during the opening weekend.

New course

As a production house for Rotterdam-based makers, TENT works from a boundless curiosity about the many forms that art can take, the places where art can take root or take hold, and the people that artists appeal to with their work. In addition, TENT offers space to new voices that want to contribute to this. With programmes in which artistic and social encounters converge, TENT creates space for co-creation, both in its physical location at Coolhaven 32 and in other places in the city.

Coolhaven 32 will be a meeting place where anyone can drop in or stay longer. TENT is building sustainable collaborations with neighbours and the surrounding creative communities. Nomadic projects by TENT can regularly be found throughout the city. With the freedom to discover the best form, place and partners together with makers, TENT delves into specific topics and involves diverse people in its projects.
