Local designers fill brand new online Depot store
Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen has launched a brand new online Depot store. Like the physical shop in the Depot, this shop offers a range inspired by the unique building. Special attention is paid to Rotterdam-based makers such as Lex Pott, atelier markx, Boris van Berkum, The Boyscouts, Alfredo Gonzales and architects MVRDV. This year, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen celebrates its 175th anniversary, a great moment to launch an online museum shop as well as new products in collaboration with local Rotterdam designers. You can visit the online shop here from now on.
The collection includes new home products for in and around the house, such as a candle by Rotterdam designer Lex Pott, fashion products such as the sock collection with Rotterdam-based sock brand Alfredo Gonzales, stationery and gifts. Prices start as low as ten euros! All products can be shipped worldwide.
A living painting
Most of the products are inspired by the structure by architecture firm MVRDV. The ambition was to create a building that appears to blend into its surroundings, but which at the same time is a safe house for the collection. The depot's mirror façade, consisting of 6,609m2 of glass, is divided into 1,664 panels, which ensure that the building visually blends into its surroundings and reflects Rotterdam's skyline. Every day - depending on the weather - the depot looks different, like a living painting. In the products that the various local designers, brands and design studios have created for Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen, the characteristic features of the building or the works in the building are clearly recognisable
