Rotterdam gets a new cultural hotspot: the Containtertrap

Rotterdam is getting a new cultural hotspot on the Rijnhavenkade, called the Containtertrap. Construction has now started, reports the Luxor Theatre. The next steps, which will complete this cultural hotspot, are now being taken. The Containertrap will be officially opened at the end of October.

Cultural hotspot

Soon, this new hotspot on the Rijnhavekade will be the place where (theatre) makers can try out or exhibit and where visitors will be the first to come into contact with these new talents. But that's not all; the Container Stairs will also be used as stairs to the roof terrace of the new Luxor Theatre. Here you will have a fantastic view over the transformation to the renewed Rijnhaven.

Artwork

The containers will soon feature artwork created by a local artist. In collaboration with ALL CAPS and Unity in Diversity Rotterdam, an open call was used to find a suitable candidate who will give the stairs a special look.

Opening weekend

The Container Stairs will be officially opened on the weekend of 25 to 27 October. This festive opening weekend is full of activities and surprises. More information on the programme will follow soon.
