Restaurant Destino opens first sherry bar in the Netherlands

Restaurant Destino celebrates its 15th anniversary on 1 March 2025 and will open of the very first sherry bar in the Netherlands. Destino remains a renowned tapas restaurant, but half the establishment will be transformed into a vibrant, cosy bar where sherry shines in all its facets. Not only many types of sherry, but also sherry cocktails will take centre stage, a unique concept that positions Destino as a true pioneer.

At the new bar, in the middle of the establishment, guests can enjoy an extensive selection of at least 10 sherries and eight impressive sherry cocktails. There is a creative twist on well-known, classic cocktails such as Negroni, Dark & Stormy and the popular Espresso Martini, among others. For instance, the vermouth in the Negroni is replaced by sherry, giving a softer flavour and beautiful layering. In addition, two surprising sours adorn the menu, specially developed by owner Reinbert Sneep in collaboration with a mixologist friend.

Delicious bites and pintxos

The creative cocktails are perfectly complemented by a variety of matching bites. Think crispy croquetas, delicious boquerones and changing pintxos. The modern tapas that Destino is known for will of course remain available in the restaurant area. Thus, Destino now offers the best of both worlds under one roof.

"Sherry is an underrated drink with a huge diversity of flavours and possibilities," says Reinbert Sneep, chef and owner of Destino. "With our sherry bar, we want to introduce people to this versatile, flavourful Spanish drink in an approachable and contemporary way. I want to create something unique that you won't see anywhere else in Rotterdam, or even in the Netherlands."
