Motel Mozaïque announces first names for 25th anniversary edition

MOMO Festival returns in April for a special edition: the 25th anniversary of Motel Mozaïque. The multidisciplinary festival will again offer visitors a diverse mix of art, music and performances, with residencies and MOMO Guided Tours giving visitors a surprising new perspective on the city. The first names for the programme have been announced. Performers include Anna B Savage, Ashain White, Geordie Greep, Joep Beving x Maarten Vos, Oddisee and The Pill. MOMO Festival takes place from Thursday 17 April to Saturday 19 April 2025, at various locations in Rotterdam. Passe-partout tickets are now available from €90 (Early Bird) via this link.

Motel Mozaïque 25 years

Motel Mozaïque originated in 2001, when Rotterdam was the European Capital of Culture. With the many vibrant ideas that emerged then, MOMO Festival still returns annually to Rotterdam, the city that plays an important role in the festival with all its venues. For years, for instance, MOMO Festival took place in places like the legendary Nighttown and in the old LantarenVenster on Gouvernestraat, but also in a temporarily built church on Schouwburgplein and on the roof of the Hofbogen.

Over the past quarter century, MOMO has invited impressive (international) artists. Names like Angus & Julia Stone, Belle & Sebastian, James Blake, Jungle, LCD Soundsystem, Mumford & Sons and Tamino have all contributed to MOMO Festival history.

Combining innovative programming and unique venues, Motel Mozaïque remains an indispensable part of Rotterdam's cultural calendar. The 25th edition promises to be another groundbreaking experience.

From hyper pop to serene piano sounds

my sweet nasty lunacy is a solo by Hélène Vrijdag (see cover photo), sung from her alter ego Woman Folly, a queer and feminist response to a character from Erasmus' Praise of Folly. The concert in an arena of moving lights is a production of Productiehuis Theater Rotterdam and also offers a collection of hyper-pop bangers as an ode to the hysterical femme.

British post-punk band Squid are known for their explosive energy and groundbreaking sound. The band was on the line-up back in 2020, but was unable to perform due to the pandemic. Since then, Squid have two critically acclaimed albums to their name. Led by singing drummer Ollie Judge, Squid brings a live show of psychedelic and experimental sounds.

A former frontman of avant-garde rock band black midi, Geordie Greep continues his path as a solo artist with a bold exploration of alternative pop, mixing energetic jazz-funk with soulful moments and unexpected twists.

American-Sudanese rapper and producer Oddisee mixes the best of different worlds: East Coast hip-hop, Sudanese rhythms, gospel and funk.

The two visionary composers Joep Beving x Maarten Vos perform serene piano sounds and haunting cello music.

This is the line-up so far. Anna B Savage, Antony Szmierek, Ashaine White, REAL!, Emma-Jean Thackray, Geordie Greep, Goblyns, Joep Beving & Maarten Vos, KEG, Lumï, Master Peace, my sweet nasty lunacy, Oddisee, oreglo, Squid and The Pill. The line-up will be further announced in the run-up to the festival.
