Monumental building on the Oude Binnenweg is new home for Drippy's smash burgers

After the success of the first locatie on Stadhuisplein, smashburger concept Drippy's continues to grow with a second Rotterdam location on the iconic Oude Binnenweg. In the former characteristic building of salad bar SLA, Kaj Gorgels, Ad Schaap and Colin Knopper welcome new guests for even more burgers, shakes and chips.

"It feels unreal that we get to do this within such a short time," Colin Knopper tells us. "In September the idea was born, in November we were suddenly standing with the first opening and now we are just already opening a second branch in Rotterdam. It feels bizarre and amazing at the same time."

The choice of this new location is no coincidence. "We really wanted a second place in Rotterdam, and when we saw this building we knew immediately: this is it," Gorgels says. "A monumental building with stained glass, two floors and a very individual character. The Oude Binnenweg is in full development and feels like a place with a future. It's alive, especially this summer."

In terms of menu, Drippy's stays true to its roots. The popular smashburgers - flattened on the grill for a distinctive crispy crust - remain the hero of the menu. ''The concept remains as it is, because this just works well,'' says Knopper. ''However, we do regularly add specials to keep surprising our guests." The interior also matches the house style but the set-up is new. "Because it is split-level, with sitting areas upstairs and downstairs, you get a completely different dynamic from the first branch. But it's still the relaxed atmosphere people know from us."
