KINO screens the documentary Love, Deutschmarks and Death
Love, Deutschmarks and Death (Aşk, Mark ve Ölüm) is a documentary by Cem Kaya that tells the rich story of Turkish guest workers and their musical culture in Germany. On 25 April, KINO presents the Dutch premiere followed by a performance by Turkish wedding band Grup Levent. To give both the Turkish, Dutch and expat community a chance to see this documentary, it will be screened in two theatres. With Dutch and English subtitles.
The documentary combines personal stories, never-before-seen archive footage and a rich soundtrack featuring iconic music by Turkish artists. It tells the story of the Turkish guest workers who came to Germany in the 1960s, their daily struggles and dreams, and the cultural exchange between Turkey and Germany that characterised this period.
