Kids' outing tested: Tracking in the Arboretum
Every month Rotterdammertjes tests an outing. This time it is Trompenburg Gardens & Arboretum.
What kind of outing did you guys do?
"We tested Trompenburg Gardens & Arboretum's scavenger hunt with five kids. Using a large hand-drawn search card, we had to find plants and animals. A fun way to discover the garden. There is also a scavenger hunt: the Trompenburg Foxes Do Book. This scavenger hunt is done using QR codes and is therefore more suitable for children aged 8 and up. Our test team was too young for that so we have a good reason to come back again."
How was it?
"The sun was shining and the Arboretum was in beautiful bloom. We had no idea it was so big and green. Through the scavenger hunt you discover the whole garden. There was also a Swing Making Workshop, but you have to book for that."
And, would you recommend the outing?
"The kids were really excited about finding the animals and plants and were able to enjoy themselves. It's nice to experience such tranquillity in the middle of the city, you hardly expect it. We recommend the outing, but the scavenger hunt is most fun in combination with a workshop. Now we ended with a brooch and an ice cream on the terrace as a reward. The test team also approved of that."
