Kaj Gorgels opens burger restaurant Drippy's on Stadhuisplein

Renowned influencer and presenter Kaj Gorgels will open Drippy's on 30 November together with experienced hospitality entrepreneur Ad Schaap (known from De Beren) and culinary influencer Colin Knopper on the famous Stadhuisplein. The restaurant with contemporary interior will serve the popular smashburgers in different versions.

Kaj Gorgels: ''After months of preparation, tasting and fine-tuning, it's finally here. It's fantastic to be able to open something that was once an idea for real now. Opening my own restaurant is a boyhood dream of mine. To be able to do this together with seasoned hospitality entrepreneur Ad and culinary genius Colin, is really the topping on the burger."

Ad Schaap has known Kaj for years and is convinced of his commitment and entrepreneurship. Ad: ''Kaj is much more than a signboard. His commitment and passion for this project are great. Without him or Colin, I would not have taken this step." Colin Knopper, who has already made a name for himself as a culinary influencer, has dedicated himself to developing the recipes and flavour combinations that make Drippy's unique.

Smashburgers from Drippy's

Smahsburgers are also gaining ground in the Dutch catering world. The popular burger gets its name from flattening (smashing) the meat on the grill plate, creating a brown crust thanks to the so-called maillard reaction. This creates the characteristic and irresistible umami flavour of the smash burger. On top of that, Drippy's also uses the best possible ingredients: the meat is 100% grass-fed beef, the bread is baked daily and the fries are also daily fresh. First of all, the team wants to prove itself in Rotterdam and has big plans for the future. "We don't want to stop at one establishment. This is the start of something much bigger," Gorgels is convinced. "Rotterdam is our first step, but we are definitely thinking further."
