Free gigs at four Rotterdam record shops during Record Store Day

Record Store Day was founded in 2007 by independent record store owners in Baltimore. Since then, the event has grown into an international phenomenon with 2,000 record shops in 23 countries participating worldwide. On 12 April, there will be free performances at Plaatboef, both Velvet branches and the newly opened Plato.

Plato

In late February, the former Black Widow and then Dig It Up!, less than a stone's throw from pop venue Rotown, opened record shop Plato, with a stage for instores. Consequently, a good number of artists will perform there on 12 April.

Velvet Music in Donner

In Bookstore Donner, there is a branch of Velvet. There are two optrdens there.

On the Nieuwe Binnenweg, there are performances at the better-known second-hand record shop.

Special releases

Exclusive releases will appear during RSD and will only be available at participating shops. The list of exclusive counts around 400 exclusive LPs and CDs in a variety of genres. There are releases by Charlie XCX and Billie Eilish, Sam Fender, Michael Kiwanuka, Lil Uzi Vert, David Bowie, AIR and U2 together with Brian Eno, among others.

More than 40 releases from Dutch and Belgian records appear, a record. From Baldwin (pseudonym for Boudewijn de Groot) to Ademnood by Linda, Roos and Jessica. Record Store Day Netherlands' own label RSD Records will release seven special releases and Sven 'Hammond' Figee will release a double LP of the soundtrack of: The Wild North Sea.
