Encourage those running the NN Marathon Rotterdam

Some 51,000 participants will enjoy it even more when encouraged this marathon weekend. On 12 and 13 April, Rotterdam will again be the setting for #demooiste, culminating in the 42.195 km on Sunday. Spectators can best cheer on the participants at these locations during the 44th edition! The public is requested to stay behind the fences and not stand on the course.

Erasmus Bridge

On Sunday 13 April, the starting boxes on the Schiedamsedijk will only be open to participants in the marathon distance. After Francis van Broekhuizen, as Lee Towers' successor, performs the iconic "You'll Never Walk Alone" just before the start at 10.00am, spectators can cheer on the participants on the Erasmus Bridge shortly afterwards. Walking routes for spectators are signposted from Churchillplein towards the Erasmus Bridge.

Ahoyplein

This year, for the first time at the initiative of ibis Styles Rotterdam Ahoy, there will be a fan zone on Ahoyplein (10.00 - 14.00). Together with partners Hart van Zuid, Rotterdam Ahoy, Sportbedrijf Rotterdam, shopping centre Zuidplein and Theater Zuidplein, the square will be filled with a neighbourhood brunch, games, workshops, live music and a bouncy castle for children. Everything is free for young and old.

Paul Dirksen, General Manager at ibis Styles Rotterdam Ahoy: ''It is great that such a wonderful event as the Marathon Rotterdam is also taking place here in Zuid. I silently hope that one day we will be able to witness the start (or finish) of the Netherlands' fastest and most beautiful running race here. I would like to fulfil that ambition. With the fan zone, we show that there is always something happening at Zuid. I think it's great to see how we, together with the various partners in Zuid, can put on such a great event. We would like to involve residents and let them enjoy this wonderful happening for free. We also hope in this way to ensure more spread of spectators in the city."

The Yellow Canary

The runners will pass no less than twice on Goudsesingel. The perfect spot to experience the marathon up close. After the marathon, you are welcome to join the Yellow Canary for a festive end to the day with other runners and other supporters.

Kralingse Bos

Several partners of the NN Marathon Rotterdam set up a cheer zone at the Kralingse Plas with personal encouragement videos around the 34-km point. Here, too, the runners will pass twice and around that 34-km point the support is badly needed. Also on the Boezemstraat, where around 35 km participants will pass by for a second time, support is much needed.

Coolsingel

On Coolsingel, participants run their last 500m of their race before finishing at the level of City Hall. Traditionally, Coolsingel is a popular place to cheer on participants so it can be crowded. Several grandstands are placed at the finish line.

After the finish

To let spectators and participants find each other easily after the finish, Meeting Points are introduced. After the finish, participants will first receive their well-earned medal and care, spectators cannot attend this. At the exit of the finish area on Karel Doormanstraat, coloured flags have been used. These are in the colours blue, green, red and yellow. It is advised to agree prior to the event at which colour Meeting Point spectators and participants will meet again.
