Exhibitions, drawing workshops, presentations, performances - at Cross Comix you will find all aspects of the modern cartoon. On Friday 20 and Saturday 21 September, you will find dozens of creators selling special artworks and a kiosk with zines from all over Europe at Worm and Cinerama.
Maybe not a festival like you are used to, but why not go for an adventure?
Stories without words
The theme of Cross Comix this year is 'stories without words'. Animation legend Paul Driessen (over fifty years of experience and an Oscar nomination) will talk about his work. Other cracks in the field of textless image stories, such as Pieter de Poortere, Martha Verschaffel and Erik Kriek, will also be in attendance.
Getting started yourself
Cross Comix is pre-eminently a festival where you can get involved yourself: model drawing, making linocuts or learning how to put together your own comic scenario. But there are also special exhibitions, including a co-production with Poetry International and an experiment to use visual stories to inform the low-literate.
Drink
Prefer to sit back a bit? Order a drink at the bar in Cinerama or WORM and grab a ready-made graphic novel - or, of course, one of those unique small-edition booklets you just bought from the creator himself.
