Boijmans briefly open again during Rotterdam Architecture Month 2024
A lot of people in Rotterdam are yearning for the opening of Boijmans Van Beuningen. The museum has been closed since 2019. During Rotterdam Architecture Month, the largest architecture festival in the Netherlands that takes place in Museumpark this year, they can go back inside for a while. Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen's building will open for five weeks. Among other things, visitors can follow a special art route through the monumental building. Longing for Boijmans will be a happy public event. With a special art tour of the construction site. The museum garden will also open and there will be a special programme in the Henket Pavilion. This way, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen celebrates its 175th anniversary. This will be done with as many visitors, art and artists as possible.
For five weeks, the museum offers an art tour that catches visitors between echoes of the past and dreams of the future. The building comes alive with artists' interventions and other interventions. The collective memory of special moments in museum history is the inspiration: exhibitions, happenings and personal stories. Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen 175 years old
Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen was founded in 1849. The monumental building by architect Van der Steur opened in 1935 and closed its doors for renovation in 2019. In 2021, Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen opened, the world's first publicly accessible collection building.
