The cream of the crop of Dutch pop choirs and vocal groups can be seen at de Doelen on Saturday 9 November. 43 companies from all over the Netherlands will take to the stages in five different halls. In addition, Dekoor Close Harmony, the world champion among pop and jazz choirs, will perform. There will also be a special act by MAZE Voices.
Getting to know choirs
The BALK TOPfestival, an event organised by choral association BALK, aims to introduce Rotterdam and the surrounding area to amateur choirs in the light genre. Groove Stories is the theme this time. With rhythm, beat and pulse, the groups will tell their story on stage. Count on beautiful voices, harmonies and catchy beats.
Workshops
As an audience member, you are part of the event: you can participate in workshops with the singers of the choirs. You do not need any singing experience to do so: the workshops are very low-threshold and accessible. Feel what singing does to you and be inspired by the voices around you.

MAZE Voices, led by top conductor Merel Martens kicks off the event with a special performance in the foyer of De Doelen. And Dekoor Close Harmony will close the day in style, together with conductor Christoph Mac-Carty. Foodtrucks with world dishes will provide the culinary accompaniment, bands from Rotterdam's Codarts School will provide the atmosphere in the foyer.
For spring, the Candlelight concerts will also be enriched with flowers
