At Kidsstock, well-known DJs spin with their children
DJs like Irwan, Roog and Michel de Hey provide the festivals with uplifting music. Only during Kidsstock they do bring their children to play records together. Irwan with son Skyler, Roog with daughter Lea and Michel de Hey with daughter Loulou will be at the Kralingse Bos on 16 June. This third edition, DJ Shagspeare (Mr White from Sensation), Jasper Clash and Nick and Kim from the Vengaboys will also be present with their kids. There will also be performances by Beuzelband, Dirk Scheele and tribute band Smoorverliefd op Doe Maar and plenty of entertainment.
There are activities where children can get involved themselves. For example, Klieder and Klodder, or the funniest teachers for craft activities, face painting and glitter tattoos, will be present at the Tinker Square. Among other things, they will bring easels to paint to your heart's content. New tricks can be learned at the Circus Factory where lots of different props are on display. Budding DJs can expand their skills at the DJ School Bus and even make their own track here, and there is a silent disco.
"At this festival, you won't hear a child crying, an enthusiastic parent told us last year, and that is perhaps the biggest compliment a visitor can give us," the organisers stress.
For football fans
The Dutch team plays its first European Championship match during Kidsstock. Football fans can visit the Beach Arena area where the match can be watched on a big screen. There are even skyboxes that can be arranged as an early Father's Day present. Of course, spectacle will be provided for every Dutch goal and there will be a spectacular halftime show provided by Kidsstock's own house band and Feyenoord's house DJ.
'Our children comment on everything'
Kidsstock is a co-creation of four fathers and their seven children. The dads are no strangers to the festival world; they are also behind Boothstock and used to conceive and execute the Dance Parade. "Our kids comment on everything. Everything we come up with has to be better, more fun and wilder from them. Then we decided they should organise a festival themselves. That's how this youth advisory board came about. From the name to the programming, the kids have determined what this festival looks like," explains the organisers.
