An expressive dance performance on a pile of rubbish

With a set full of waste and a cast of five performers, choreographer and theatre maker Cecilia Moisio puts consumer society on edge in the dance and musical theatre performance Waste Me. The performance will premiere at Maaspodium on Friday 14 March, with a try-out first on 13 March. After that, the performance will travel through the Netherlands and visit Maaspodium again on 3 and 4 April and 16 May. Tickets are on sale via this link.

Waste Me is a mix of dance, theatre, trash art and live music exposes how stuff shapes our identity. Out of a pile of rubbish, five dancers appear. They discard stuff and each other, moving like machines and blindly following the group. Have they entered a utopia or a nightmare? Waste Me shows how consumerism controls our lives.

The absurdity of constantly buying stuff

Cecilia Moisio on Waste Me: ''Waste Me is about consumer society and our Western throwaway culture. We live in a world of money, mass consumption and, as a result, huge amounts of waste. It is about the absurdity of constantly buying stuff and the craving for more, more, more. This performance stems from a personal need to do something about it, to start a conversation and make an activist performance.''
