6x fun kids' outings during the autumn holidays

In the autumn holidays, there are plenty of fun kids activities to do in Rotterdam. Whether you are looking for adventure, culture or relaxation, there is something for every family and every child. Discover our tips here!

Cinemini (2-6)

Toddlers and preschoolers can start experiencing their first film viewing at LantarenVenster. From 3 November to 290 December, sweet, exciting, abstract, narrative and sometimes challenging short films will be shown. Afterwards, they play together in a light landscape, consisting of various installations, where children playfully discover how light can create stories. They explore form, projection, light, shadow, stories, movement and colour.

Hoeheettut (6+)

Theatre Zuidplein celebrates its 70th anniversary on Sunday 20 October. The whole coming year will be marked by festive activities, a call for fascinating memories and a metre-long partyZlinger. But there will also, of course, be performances such as Hoeheettut, based on a bouncy and colourful story about love of language by Joke van Leeuwen.

Luna (6+)

Youth Theatre Hofplein brings the show Luna to the big stage until Sunday 3 November. Luna hears voices that bother her. Voices no one else can hear. That is why she is in Huize Hoopvol. Yet recently her life has improved a little: every weekend she gets to stay with Ties. His parents don't think she's crazy. Besides, Gozert is there: Ties' invisible friend, whom Luna can also hear.

Splash (4-12)

For more than 30 years, children learned about the maritime world through play with Professor Splash at the Maritime Museum. Earlier this year, the professor was waved goodbye. On 26 October, the successor will open: Plons! The Future of the Sea. Visitors can design a sea farm and remove plastic rubbish from the sea, or colour in prints of fish and sea creatures and have them scanned and then released into the sea.

Roller Skate Disco (0-99)

A must-see in Rotterdam is, of course, the historical monument De Laurenskerk. Built between about 1449 and 1525, the church is the only remaining late Gothic building from medieval Rotterdam. There are of course church services, tower climbs and organ concerts. But from Wednesday 30 to Friday 1 November, it will be possible to roller-skate in the church for the first time. During the day is for families.

Build Your Own Instrument (6-12)

The Music Yard has opened in a former church. To let young Rotterdammers discover music. And what could be more fun than making music with a home-made instrument such as a drum box or trumpet. On Saturday 26 October and Wednesday 30 November, creative kids can get to work with wood and decorations during a workshop. It will end with a joint performance.
