Zara McFarlane

Born and raised in London, vocalist Zara McFarlane has been compared to artists such as Erykah Badu and Cassandra Wilson. You can hear the influence of Nina Simone but also the intoxicating seventies jazz of Pharoah Sanders. Her music combines soul, jazz, dub and afro-funk. Jazz connoisseurs consider the award-winning British singer to be a wonderfully great talent. On her fifth studio album Sweet Whispers: Celebrating Sarah Vaughan, McFarlane pays tribute to jazz legend Sarah Vaughan, who inspired her. Vaughan was known for her expressive voice, unique vibrato and large vocal range. Together with Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald, the American is considered one of the greatest in the jazz genre.
