Waste me

Welcome to the back of the throwaway society. Five performers crawl out of a large mountain of waste. They throw away stuff, waste and each other. They become stuff, the stuff is their life. Factory movements and herd behaviour alternate. Is it Utopia or have they ended up in hell? They are waiting for something, a redemption, a new world. Can they free themselves from this self-made prison?

Waste Me is a dance performance by Maas theater and dance and choreographer/theater maker Cecilia Moisio, and was specially created on location for Oerol Festival as a strong commentary on the out of control consumer society. And a firm plea for consuming less. A critical look at how consumerism has changed our psyche and behavior and what this means for our self-esteem and the appreciation of others around us.

Moisio confronts you with the harsh reality and also takes you to a dystopian world, a timeless place where we see the results of our consumer behavior and our urge to treat each other as things. The set image is the exact amount of waste that a European throws away in a year.
