Vo-lu-me
In their trouser pockets, Bram and Karlijn find a small piece of cloth that grows bigger every time it is unfolded. So big that you can even disappear into it. They fill the entire space with that piece of cloth. From flat to convex and from empty to full. Sometimes you feel so super small and then just a little later you feel really big again. Afterwards, when all hands are itching and all feet are kicking, the children are allowed to play on the floor. Because playing together and being amazed, isn't that the best thing there is?
VO-LU-ME received four stars in the Volkskrant: "Toddler theatre is not new, but these makers, including director Inez Derksen, give the genre a very unique impulse. It is also wonderful for adults to see how the imagination can be stimulated with very simple means." Maker Bram van Helden finds a source of wonder about life in very ordinary things. This ties in well with the world of experience of toddlers and their parents. For Karlijn Hamer, toddlers and preschoolers are the ideal spectators: "They look with their bodies, and everything has the potential to be elevated by them to theatre."
