Lost Youth tells the true stories of young people who have been removed from their homes because of the benefits scandal. Behind transparent walls, the struggle of a brother and two sisters unfolds. Three young people who only have each other when the whole world seems to turn against them. Just like the neighbours, teachers, youth care workers and all other bystanders, you witness the drama that takes place in their lives, but also their mutual dynamics and survival power.

Lost Youth is about children who ended up in an impersonal system, who were forced to make adult decisions. But also about the resilience of young people who try to deal with the demons of the past in the here and now.

With Lost Youth you get a unique look behind the files, the life behind the front door that often remains hidden. In an intimate setting, with personal stories and music, the Rotterdam Wijktheater brings to life the reality of 80,000 children affected by the injustice of the Toeslagen scandal.
