[up]Loaded Bodies

We are drawn to the promise of digital experiences through avatars and virtual parties. While our minds explore these worlds, our bodies remain connected, facing limitations and data costs. Bound to the ‘Internet of Bodies’, we exist between the physical and the virtual, disconnected but still in reality.

All beings connected to digital networks, human and nonhuman, experience tension as technology blurs the lines between virtual and real, while bodies remain physical. Even the internet, AI, and devices have physical forms that weigh us down. Whether we seek digital spaces or a foothold in reality, this is not an escape—it is life in the 21st century.

For the 2024 annual exhibition at V2_ we are excited to present [Up]loaded Bodies, featuring works by five artists: Paula Strunden, Martinus Suijkerbuijk & Øystein Fjeldbo, Marie-Luce Nadal, Špela Petrič and Marnix de Nijs.

Organized in collaboration with Metamorf and TEKS, this three-week exhibition takes place at V2_ in Rotterdam and showcases innovative explorations of the theme Uploaded Bodies.
