Turn Turn Turn | De Gemeenschap

In the quiet seclusion of a village, somewhere in the east of the Netherlands, a father lives with his daughter. He, a former gymnastics champion, is confined to a wheelchair after a fall from the rings. She is past her early childhood and what desires she may have once had are now being pushed aside by her task as an informal caregiver. An outsider would be amazed at the symbiotic relationship between father and daughter, which moves back and forth between affection and contempt, between care and frustration.

That outsider arrives: a young man from the distant Randstad has come to live in this region and asks wise advice from the veteran for his own gymnastics career. The arrival of this boy, innocent and curious, breaks the fragile balance between father and daughter. Can the disabled athlete still find the pupil he never had? Is there still love left for his withered daughter?

'Turn Turn Turn' is a comedy about ambition, informal care and physical constraint. A story about the province, where its own laws apply and where people would rather remain silent than speak.
