TRILOGIE VAN KLAAS DE VRIES
Leading Dutch composer and former teacher at the conservatory Klaas de Vries is put in the spotlight with an unheard of beautiful concert, the Klaas de Vries trilogy, played by Codarts students under the direction of conductor Arie van Beek.
On July 15, 2024, Klaas de Vries will turn 80. This leading Dutch composer and former teacher at the conservatory will be put in the spotlight with an unheard of beautiful concert, the Klaas de Vries trilogy, played by Codarts students under the direction of conductor Arie van Beek. The last time this trilogy was played was 50 years ago; it is therefore high time that the new generation of musicians also gets to know this cycle by Klaas de Vries.
The pieces played are (in order): "Diafonía la creación", in which the impressive voices of 2 sopranos are heard, "Sub nocte per umbras", where the ensemble starts and the cycle begins to sound bigger, and the biggest sounding piece of all, "De profundis", which is played exclusively by conservatory students.
These pieces are thematically linked and are played consecutively by the students and the DoelenEnsemble. The musicians take you on a musical journey that plays on emotion.
