Tord Gustavsen Trio

Tord Gustavsen continues to surprise with moving melodies, subtle grooves, simplicity and depth in his music. Gustavsen is one of the figureheads of Norwegian music. In his musical universe he explores Scandinavian folk music and cool jazz. Beautiful, atmospheric and sometimes melancholic music. Subtlety is the key word. “He touches the keys almost apologetically,” de Volkskrant once wrote. Tord is constantly looking for a fresh and completely stripped down honest beauty in music. His trio explores, integrates and serves a holy trinity of emotional intensity, elegance and meditative musical breathing.

The last album The Opening (2022) was a new dive into Scandinavian folk songs, gospel, chorales and jazz; a language that the Norwegian pianist developed in almost two decades at the prestigious label ECM Records. This spring, Tord Gustavsen's tenth album will be released, a milestone. He will present the music from this with his trio in LantarenVenster in September.
