Toen mijn vader de nacht in vloog (6+) - Studio Figur
The theatre company Studio Figur presents a new poetic and exciting puppet theatre performance for young and old. When My Father Flew Into The Night is a surreal fairy tale about the search for freedom and the intense hope for reunion. Nour fled from Syria with her mother to a safer place, where she waits to be reunited with her father. When the wait takes too long, she takes matters into her own hands and goes looking for it herself. Along the way she meets (too) crazy characters and learns to spread her wings and fly.
Nour often dreams about her father, who has stayed behind in the country where she was born. In her dream, her father stands in the light of the moon, looking out at the ocean. He slowly bends his knees and spreads his arms. Wings appear. He breathes in, pushes off and... flies.
When My Father Flew Into the Night is told from the perspective of Nour who fled with her mother to a 'safer' place and is waiting for her father to reunite with them from Syria. Months pass and Nour's hope turns more and more into hopelessness. Until suddenly a crazy figure appears who can help her with exactly what she wants: fleeing the asylum center and looking for her father. "Baba I'm coming!"
In When My Father Flew Into the Night we escape the world of rules and boundaries and dive into Nour's world of fantasy and dreams. The puppets, decor, live film and intriguing music ensure that this poetic and exciting puppet theatre performance becomes an adventure for both young and old. And language is no problem.
