Not a day goes by without the talk shows and opinion pages talking about polarization. Nobody wants it… but what if the other really has the wrong ideas? City versus countryside, woke versus alt-right, wappies versus sheep. How can we, as individuals and as a society, connect with people who think differently?

Philosopher Lammert Kamphuis grew up in a world of us and them, truth and lies, white and black. To his surprise, he sees that society is increasingly starting to resemble the fundamentalist church from which he freed himself. In 'Addicted to our own righteousness', Lammert makes clear why man naturally gets so easily stuck in his own righteousness. And above all: how 2500 years of philosophical history can free us from it.
