The Waiting City

The Waiting City is a participatory art project in public space in which you can discover the city of Rotterdam and its hidden stories with an interactive map and three workshops. With the map you explore special waiting places, listen to personal stories about waiting and carry out playful assignments that let you experience what waiting means to people.

What do you get with your ticket?

• Access to the joint opening and closing meeting at Theater Rotterdam .
• An interactive map of Rotterdam full of stories, surprises and assignments.
• Two weeks to explore the city at your own pace.

With a ticket you get access to the kick-off meeting, where you will receive the exclusive map of The Waiting City and practical tips from Merel to start your journey of discovery. In the two weeks that follow, you will explore the city in your own way. You will delve into personal stories, experience surprising assignments and explore hidden waiting places in the city.

During this period, Merel will check in with you regularly, you will get the chance to catch a glimpse of the other participants and you can participate in a special group intervention. At the end of the two weeks, on February 22, we will come together for the closing meeting in Theater Rotterdam. Here we will share our experiences, stories and discoveries with each other.
