The Space Choir
A groovy pop choir where everyone is welcome… that's The Space Choir!
With The Space Choir, a new wind is blowing through the Dutch choir landscape. From twenty-somethings to retirees, the queer community, experienced or inexperienced vocalists, everyone is welcome!
The Space Choir was set up by Lucas Vermeer, who wants to connect people from different generations with this atypical choir. They sing unexpected 'bangers' such as So Hot You're Hurting My Feelings (Caroline Polachek), Bodyguard (Beyoncé) and Back on 74 (Jungle), under Vermeer's enthusiastic musical direction.
The Space Choir started in March 2024 and celebrate their first anniversary with these performances. This year, there are no less than five groups (three in Rotterdam, one in Utrecht and one in The Hague) with a total of 600 members singing weekly. These groups bring their hip repertoire to the stage.
