Ingrid (Julianne Moore) is a bestselling author famous for her book about her fear of death. When she learns that Martha (Tilda Swinton) – a former war correspondent – ​​is ill, she visits her, rekindling a past friendship. Martha is now fighting a new war, and the women’s renewed bond means that Ingrid is involved in her treatments, while stories are told, secrets are revealed, and regret, redemption and mortality are discussed over tea.
