New to Bluegrass, but certainly not new to music, are the members of the brand new Bluegrass band The New West. Traditional instruments such as banjo and mandolin were mastered within a few months, which quickly made the band famous both inside and outside Rotterdam.
This musical growth spurt will be presented on March 23 with rock-hard banjo, fantastic fiddle, groundbreaking bass work, masterful mandolin and screeching guitar in Theater Walhalla!
The band consists of well-attuned friends who studied at the Rotterdam Conservatory at the same time and have been sharing the stage for over a decade. All six of them can boast an extremely varied musical career, from which they each bring their experience to the stage. For example, they have worked individually with Douwe Bob, Tim Knol, the Bluegrass Boogiemen, Corrie van Binsbergen and Frédérique Spigt.
Do you have to be American to be able to perform this thoroughly American music style authentically and with flair? Come and hear the answer to that question for yourself in Theater Walhalla. Fireworks with banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar and bass, that is what these men give at their best.
After this concert, a real “Picking Party” or jam session for bluegrass will be held in the foyer of the theater for enthusiasts, veterans and students.
