The Kik

The Netherlands' best swaggerers The Kik are back in their hometown of Rotterdam to stir things up. The eccentric five know how to turn every evening into a party and have been doing this successfully for many years. They have recently rediscovered their love for the Dutch anthem. The new songs are full of the classic imagery that we know from the genre: the café on the corner, the wisdom of your grandparents, memories of times gone by and the attraction of that special person. The Kik has recently been less concerned with current affairs, but mainly focused on lighter, personal topics.

Their latest album 'Bal Popculair', which was released at the end of March 2024, is a collection of life songs, both self-written and new versions of old classics. 'Bal Popculaire' introduces a new generation to the traditional Dutch tradition of the song of life and has the potential to attract a completely new audience to the genre. But one thing never changes about The Kik: with some Rickenbackers and Vox amplifiers on stage, the band can throw a fun party anytime, anywhere. It is clear that the cheerful lower beat of The Kik is now going 'wide'.
