The JA! Toch evenings take place monthly in Studio de Bakkerij and are organized by the youth ambassadors (JA's) led by Kershawn Rijssel. These evenings offer young makers not only a stage to show their talents, but also to have deeper conversations about current social themes.
Each month a different theme is central, such as mental health, discrimination, setbacks and finding happiness. Through various art forms such as theatre, spoken word, music and interactive panels the theme of the evening is highlighted in an inspiring and creative way. The young people are not only the artists, but also the organizers who put together and coordinate the entire program.
The evenings offer a chance for young audiences to come together, reflect and make their voices heard on important issues that concern them. This makes the JA! Toch evenings not only a place for talent development, but also a place for dialogue and social involvement. The stands are filled with young audiences, who participate in the discussions and enjoy the performances.
Every Tuesday, we work hard to put together the program, where the young people are guided in organizing panels, performances, live music and workshops. One Friday a month, this commitment becomes visible during the JA! Toch evening, where young people from all over Rotterdam and beyond come together to participate in this inspiring and interactive event.
