Tell! Jonkonnu, Tell! Elaine Mitchener & Ensemble Klang

Jonkonnu is a colorful street performance in the Caribbean. Dancers and musicians dress in brightly colored costumes portraying a variety of characters. From mythical figures to those who represent the impact of colonization and major rulers in our society. Jamaican composer Mikhail Johnson interprets the stories behind those characters in Tell! Jonkonnu, Tell! That was the inspiration for Klang and Mitchener, who turned this entire program into a festive parade in which each piece has its own story.
