In a collaborative exhibition, Nanna van Heest, Carla Klein and Marleen van Wijngaarden explore how color, texture, format and time can deepen and broaden our understanding of the visual world.
Focusing on the impact of color, Nanna van Heest explores how personal memories and associations can enrich and expand existing theories of color. By transforming color into a language of personal and collective narratives, she creates a new way of looking at the interaction between color and meaning.
Carla Klein explores the boundaries between photography and painting by transforming her original images into layered paintings in which materiality, spatiality and abstraction alternate. Starting from her own analog photographs, she creates images of vast landscapes, among others, that evolve to the canvas, with an understated sense of desolation and a depth that transcends the original source. Her paintings reinterpret the materiality and temporality of photography and reveal an almost cinematic layering of space, inviting the viewer to wander into moments that are both recognizable and alienating.
Marleen van Wijngaarden works from the plastic number - a proportional constant that creates harmony in dimensions - and moves beyond its strictly minimalist application. By creating unexpected patterns within this mathematical system, she demonstrates the flexibility and organic power that can emerge from a rigid structure.
