Tegendraads - Film&Ontbijt

Tegendraads is a new Dutch film directed by Ben Sombogaart, known for previous successes such as De Tweeling and Knielen op een Bed Violen. The film is set in the sleepy Oldenzaal of 1961. The arrival of a large group of Italian workers, who have been called up to support the rapidly growing textile industry, shakes the community awake. While the Italians work hard and steal the hearts of the Twente girls, the young worker Johanna is looking for freedom and tries to fight her way up against the social relations. The growing tensions between the Twente residents and the newcomers eventually lead to the historic 'Spaghetti Riots' of 1961, in which Johanna, together with her new lover Francesco, finds herself in the eye of the storm.
