Tapijt van Liefde en Verdriet

We invite you to join Ukrainians in creating the Carpet of Love and Sorrow, a war memorial woven from stories of loss and resilience.

Join the Ukrainian community in creating the "Carpet of Love and Sorrow," a powerful war memorial. This art project uses woven braids to represent stories of loss and resilience. Red braids symbolize those who have endured the war in Ukraine, while black braids honor the departed.

Participate by bringing unwanted red or black fabric (clothing, linens, etc.). During workshops, collaborate with the Ukrainian community to cut the fabric into strips and weave them into braids. Share moments, conversations, and stories to build meaningful connections.

The "Carpet of Love and Sorrow," initiated by Marfa Vasilieva and supported by Stichting VATAHA, Het Oekraïens Huis in Rotterdam, and DOKhuis, uses weaving to explore emotions and memories. The exhibition is part of "Lost Voices, Unbroken Spirit: Art Route" by VATAHA Foundation, commemorating the third anniversary of the large-scale invasion of Ukraine.
