Stopmotion voor beginners: Memoir of a Snail

During this special screening of Memoir of a Snail, Tinsel Studio, a world-renowned Rotterdam stop-motion studio, will be visiting to talk about the technique of stop-motion using many examples. Tinsel Studio Tinsel Studio is the animation lovechild of directors Nienke Deutz, Alice Saey and Wiep Teeuwisse, based in Rotterdam (NL). With over ten years of experience in animation directing, the three makers have gained worldwide recognition and collaborated in international co-productions with France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

After four years of sharing a studio and working on each other’s projects, they decided to take their professional collaboration to the next level and produce their own films. Driven by a shared passion for contemporary cinema, art and storytelling, they aim to grow as a collective from their individual experiences, ranging from 2D graphics to tactile stop-motion.

Strongly rooted in both the Netherlands and France, Tinsel Studio wants to further develop on the local scene with an international perspective. Their first production is the short stop-motion musical De Afvalligen.
