An Edison Award, a golden CD, many theatre tours, TV appearances and a live performance for Nelson Mandela: Slagerij van Kampen has achieved great successes over the past 40 years. They are known as the inspiration for many percussion groups all over the world.

The typical Van Kampen sound, a unique style of synchronous drumming with an unprecedented number of variations, is based on the style of the legendary Burundi Drummers. Founder Willem van Kruijsdijk: “I was impressed by the Burundi Drummers at an early age, I must have been about twelve when I first heard them. This unique way of unison drumming exudes an enormous primal force." After 40 years, this primal force can still be unmistakably seen, heard and felt in the performances of Slagerij van Kampen.

In this 40 Year Anniversary Tour (the last of their anniversary tour!) the beautiful past and the powerful, impressive present merge into a fantastic live experience.
