A personal quest to find ways to let go of everything you cling to.
Slave is a monologue about all possible addictions a person can have. And about having to say goodbye to them. A process of denial, lies, desires and the constant promise of 'tomorrow everything will be different'. For director Lynn Schutter and actor Edouard Kain, Slave is also a personal quest for the origin and form of their own desire. And for the ways to let go of everything you cling to. The desire for self-destruction is something that many people know to a greater or lesser extent. Often it remains an innocent 'guilty pleasure'. But for many it also takes on dangerous forms... The character in Slave says goodbye. To his favorite food. To his parents. And actually to the life as he has lived it up to now. It is a stream of words and thoughts about familiar patterns and the frantic attempts to break through them. Playwright and screenwriter Oscar van Woensel was one of the founders of the theatre company Dood Paard, where he also worked as an actor for many years. In recent years he has written many scripts for series and film, including Commando's, Van God Los, Penoza and Mocro Maffia.
