Coming from both African and European descent, they are constantly creating new ways to bring these worlds together. A 'gentle warrior' at heart, Shishani possesses the rare ability to address weighty topics with both softness and determination. Shishani's work has always been characterized by its thought-provoking, healing nature. Shishani's new album Whispers is a personal journey inwards in learning how to listen to your inner voice. Musically, it's a graceful mix of intimate songs that always carry depth and closeness. Shishani's voice, both mystically light and emotionally powerful, carries timeless messages that resonate deeply. As an artist fluidity is an important marker for their work as their evolution marks many intersections. Shishani has been queering many domains such as gender, sexuality, musical and cultural identity, working between grassroots activism and academia, from street protests to prominent concert halls and festivals.

Shishani has been referred to 'a modern day healer', using their voice and their eloquent storytelling to build social awareness and empathy for self and others.

During TRIPP Space at Theater Rotterdam, Shishani will explore new terrain: their body. Shishani will focus on expanding their practice with movement and dance as a form of self-liberation. Shishani will work on developing a physical language inspired by contemporary dance and African, afro-diaspora influences. This new physical journey will lead up to a self-innovating, embodied expression of their album “Whispers.”
