Rotterdamse Levenslust Academie presenteert artistiek avontuur

Joseph Beuys famously said: "Everyone is an artist". By which he wanted to say that art professionals certainly do not have the exclusive right. Based on this idea, the Levenslust Academy was created last year, a joint project between art institution Brutus and Pluspunt, a care, learning and work collective for Rotterdam residents who need a helping hand. Over a period of six months, a group of Pluspunters, together with professional artists, architects and designers, develop a series of creative and expressive skills. The first period ran from September 2023 to February 2024. The second started in March this year; the result, a joint exhibition, is freely accessible from September 1 to September 22, from Thursday to Sunday afternoon.

About Pluspunt

Pluspunt Rotterdam is a work center for Rotterdam residents who need long-term support, and for Rotterdam residents who want to make an active contribution to this. The organization has bicycle, wood, steel, cooking, art, food and other workshops and aims to provide a fair chance and a better life for vulnerable Rotterdam residents.

About Brutus, an artist-driven playground

With a continuous program, Brutus, with Brutus Space and Brutus Base, is the largest contemporary art institution in the Netherlands. The place where art that confronts, disrupts and stimulates can be seen. Brutus offers artists time, space and freedom to experiment on a large scale. Work by big names from the international art world alternates with emerging and yet to be discovered talent. All art disciplines are covered: from sculpture to performance; from new to traditional media. Brutus was founded in 2008 by Joep van Lieshout as AVL Mundo and has continued independently since 2023.
